Work and Employment Research Centre (WE)


The purpose of WE is to promote and support research, education, innovation and utilization in the field of sustainable work and employment.

The center should be a platform for national and international research collaboration by:

• creating interfaces between business, government organizations, the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers in matters relating to work and employment

• organizing open conferences, seminars, lectures and hearings for researchers, policy makers and the public on current issues in the field

• providing a pool of experts for research and evaluation assignments

• initiating and coordinating applications to national/international research funds

• supporting doctoral programs related to work and employment

• striving to become a national forum for research on work and employment.

WE organize many seminar, mostly in Swedish. Our seminars are announced in the calendar.

WE also offer planning grants.

 

Two PhD students – on the future of work and design of future factories


Chalmers is now looking for two highly motivated PhD candidates to join the division of Production Systems.

The first position is focused on the future of work in production and manufacturing. Your PhD research will focus on how increasing automation, new manufacturing technologies, and new COVID-safety needs create new work situations and skill-gaps. How can human-centred and resilient design of socially sustainable work, rapid re-skilling, and smart interaction between people and technologies like robots, be developed for Industry 4.0?

The second position is focused on augmented and virtual reality technologies for design of sustainable production systems. Your PhD research will focus on development, demonstration of AR/VR solutions in real production environments. This includes digital tools for sustainability assessment; 3D Scanning, and VR/AR for design of production system design and assembly. You will also work with interoperability of shop-floor IT.
