For several years, there has been an intense discussion on the effects of technological change, in particular the impact of digitalization. Many scholars believe we are now in a period when new digital devices will reshape working life profoundly. Some are hopeful and state that jobs are generally being upgraded - new and better jobs are growing. Others see a more troublesome future with disappearance of jobs and a more polarized and unequal labour market - both good and bad jobs are on the rise.

This full-day seminar focuses on the development in Sweden in the last decades. Which jobs tend to increase and which tend to decrease? Do we see more jobs with high salaries and good work environment? Or is it mainly low-status occupations that have expanded in the last decades? And how does the development of the Swedish labour market appear from an international perspective?
